A full show of Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Sportsman and Hornets is set to hit the track at Lincoln Speedway tonight. Gates open at 3 p.m., hot laps start at 6, and racing begins at 6:30.
After tonight, there will be just one “regular” full show in seven weeks, a span that stretches until Aug. 16.
Among the upcoming promotions: June 29, a Sunday night race that boasts a $6,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals Late Models feature. A Sunday night UMP Sportsman special is on tap for July 13, coming on the heels of a Saturday full show July 5.
ABOUT THOSE SUMMERNATIONALS: That series raced Friday at Farmer City Raceway, a track with with Speedway co-owner and promoter Don Hammer is also involved.
It was by design.
“If it’s on the same weekend (as Lincoln) and you have bad weather, maybe they both get rained out,” Hammer said. “That way, your chances are better of getting both nights in.”
