Do-over for Speedway PDF Print E-mail

Lincoln Speedway was far from an ideal racing atmosphere Saturday, as opening night for its fifth season was postponed due to weather.

“Everything was wet, just a muddy mess,” Speedway co-owner and promoter Don Hammer said today. “And it wasn’t going to be a good night.”

The Speedway will try again with a full show scheduled for this coming Saturday. Hot laps begin at 6 p.m., with racing set to start at 6:30. The winner of the Late Models feature will take home $1,250.

Once more, Lincoln residents showing a driver’s license will gain free entry to the grandstands, Hammer’s original plan for this past weekend.

“We’ll just transfer everything over,” he said.
